Dr. Raymond Friedman founded the Barrington Psychiatric Center (BPC) in 1972 and serves as its medical director. Since 2004, he has concentrated his medical-legal practice on agreed medical examinations in psychiatry and his work is in constant demand.
As a widely recognized expert, Dr. Friedman conducts clinical research on psychotherapy and post-traumatic stress disorder and he maintains an active private psychoanalytic practice.
Dr. Friedman received his M.D. degree with honors from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine. He interned in medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and completed a residency in psychiatry at USC – Los Angeles County Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Friedman received his Ph.D. from the Southern California Psychoanalytic Institute and he is board-certified in psychiatry. He is also certified in psychoanalysis by the Board on Professional Standards of the American Psychoanalytic Association.
As the assistant chief of the depression section at the National Institute of Mental Health in Washington, D.C., Dr. Friedman conducted research on depressive disorders and schizophrenia.
